Growing up biracial definitely had its struggles. Hair probably being near the top of that list. From shampoos sucking the life out of my oils to breaking combs from the knots that came from sleeping on wet hair the night before. When I fell in love with the nostalgic fashions of the past, the hair came with it. Just look at those elegant waves of Rita's or how sexy a pixie cut looks with the correct set, thanks to gals like Gina.
When I first embarked on this new lifestyle, the hair did not come easy. I could not find for the life of me an easy way to do these remarkable hair styles. When I did it was difficult to get the style to stick. It took me many tests and a few years to perfect, but I think I got the hang and my own style for hair. My hair certainly leans more towards Sophia Loren on a brisk walk than Grace Kelly at an award show, but I love it. Below i'm sharing my own personal approach to styling mixed hair. The style isn't anything specific, nor do I even do a full on brush out style, the basics are there though, to go and shape your hair in any wave or style. So watch, pin, and brush away! (If you have straight hair, there is no reason you can't try this approach either!)
